In as low as 6 seconds, the plate edge is referenced and labeled with a mark that is suitable for manual or automatic identification of stacked plates.
The plant positions the plate at the marking station (stopped and stationary) with the edge justified within 0-1" (2-25.4 mm.) Typical plate thickness range is .187" (4.7 mm) to 9.8" (250 mm) with plate temperatures of ambient to 500°F (260°C.) (Contact InfoSight Corporation for other requirements.)
The InfoSight LabeLase® machine pneumatically extends and lifts to reference on the plate edge and under side surfaces. A basecoat of blank ink is applied followed by a top coat of white ink. A 50W CO2 laser removes the white ink overlay to reveal a desired black man-readable message, barcode and/or logo. The total message width is 4" (100 mm) or less. After marking, the machine retracts to a clear position.
